Question about accuracy

I’m used to using programs like Maya where you can snap to a model or the grid or whatever and precisely place things. It seems like with ZBrush people don’t do that, but is there a way to be more accurate? I would like to line things up in the beginning, but couldn’t figure out how. Also at least until I get better it seems hard to use the move tool on say just what you added with a brush. For instance I was trying to learn basics and used the chisel features brush to try to create a head, but no matter how I click I can’t get the nose exactly where I want it. The only way I can see is to mask the nose and move it, but it seems time consuming. I’d like to be able to place things exactly where I want. I know in real life things aren’t exact but it for me is easier to start off that way and then at the end tweak what I need. Get it looking correct first and then mess with it. Even getting masks to be accurate is hard.

Hi @ucaoemili95 Welcome to ZBrush Central!

Going to “Tool > Deformation” and clicking “Unify” will place the subtool exactly in the middle of the ZBrush world space and sizing it to a size that works best in ZBrush.

The cursor will always snap to the nearest vertex. If you want to place something exactly in the middle of the mesh for example, then the mesh will have to be symetrical, having vertices running exactly down the middle of the mesh.

If you want to move a subtool precisely, you can go to “Tool> Geometry > Position” and click on the slider appropiate to the direction you wish to move the subtool. Clicking on the slider will give you a red box at which point you can enter numerical values. Also, the sliders in “Tool > Deformation” will work in the same manner for moving, sizing and rotating the subtool.

Hope this helps!
