Quadruped Creature Sculpt

Hi everyone,

This is a piece I did for my portfolio and would appreciate any thoughts on it. Design, presentation, anything at all really. My idea behind it was to create a quadruped creature that would be a secondary character in a game or movie, I had a cow in mind. Since this was for my portfolio I documented all the steps I took to create it. I polypainted and rendered in Zbrush with the Skin05 (…I think) matcap.

Thanks for looking.

Oh, have to give credit to Neville Page for the method to design the silhouette’s. Must bow before the Master!

interesting developpement.

I think you should try to add some real anima reference, like ribs, or for the legs.
For now its a bit too different from any existing creature, it would add it more credibility I think?

Good start, and nice process!:+1: :+1: :+1:

I agree, referencing real animals for anatomy and detail will aid in making it more believable.
Also creatures need a little bit of mythology or evolution to them, again aiding in making the unbelievable plausable.
Keep at it:+1:

Thanks for the help guys. I think I see what you two are talking about. I’ll do some more research and take another stab at it.

First I have to start by saying , this is an artistic look, and the final call is yours

However I agree with above stamens

Anything you see that is “acceptable fiction” has to relate to our human eys and what is used to see

I made a fast sketch over your model (hope you don’t mind) just to illustrate my point

Keep it up

Hey ashaiad, I appreciate the paintover and I like your changes. I think next time I’ll spend more time on the design instead of being a slave to my thumbnail.
