Qmesh working sluggishly on 30,000 polys. what is target poly count for smooth operation?

I have kept my polycount relatively low, around 30,000 polys, but when I attempt to qmesh extrude or zmodeler poly extrude all polys, it makes my system runsluggishly and choppily, making it next to impossible to extrude as I would like. I had reduced the mesh to about 16,000 polys and it continued to work fine, but caused some issues with sculpt.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a target amout of polys I should maintain for smooth operation?

Hello @Brian_Cowell ,

Attempting to extrude all polygons at once on a 30k mesh is going to be a bit challenging for ZModeler. This tool is strictly meant for modeling on low poly meshes. You can either reduce your polycount, or limit the number of polygons you are trying to affect at one time.

A mesh that works well for ZModeler and a mesh that works well for sculpting are going to be two different things. You should probably work on the mesh in separate phases–sculpting after your low poly work is complete.

Good luck!
