pushing and pulling

i have just bought zbrush and i think it rocks. here’s the second head i worked on,
my contri while waiting for z2.

hope you like it.

all the best,
daniel

Welcome Aboard, Daniel… :+1: :sunglasses: :+1:
You have obvious modelling ability, and this is a very impressive first post…
How did you produce the texture, If I may ask?
:sunglasses:

hi stonecutter,
thanks for your post. it makes burn my a** to work out more

i exported the splinepatch head out of 3dsmax
and pushed/pulled some stuff in zbrush. i have then painted the head in zbrush and exported the texture.

in fact the texture results from an unknown error i have made. the texture i exported from zbrush did not fit on the reimported model in 3dsmax. instead a nice texture, zbrush exported an image with a lot of small filled rectangles.

while trying out different mapping methods i discovered that the face-mapping option in 3ds produces a nice texture showing the patches nicely. the uvw was preserved while reimporting to 3ds, but anyway, i have to find out now how to produce good uvw textures in zbrush that show up right in 3ds.

on the modelling side i was lazy, i did not take a self modeled head (it is in the pipeline). i used a nice new maxscript called facemaker for the basehead.

but anyway, i have to learn a lot more about zbrush. it addicts me every time i start it.

i had to learn the UI first. not that easy as i thought. mainly because of lack of understanding the modeling process pipeline. first i have worked with z-spheres and so on, but when i turned off the edit mode i have lost my 3d informations. this did cost me a lot of time. but now it seems that the models come better day per day.

all the best,
daniel

Welcome, congratulations, nice job.
Hope we all don’t have to “unlearn”
much.
Luck.

Hello triztan ,
Welcome to ZBC. Although I can’t say to much about your modelling ability , as I always thought that the XSI head model looked abit fat and dissproportionate, its an impressive display of texturing ability.

Look forward to seeing some of your work in the future.

Kircho

very nice, cool texture, looks like muscles

hello kircho,
i have never tried xsi but what i have heard rumoring the next update will be groundbreaking (all in none software).

in fact it is because of you, kircho, i entered zbrush. i saw you work and was so impressed that i had to buy zbrush to get my hands dirty on zbrush. together with 3ds i think it’s a great tool.

hey, i have to say too that i like the usercomunity here a lot. you guys are so helpful and the information quality on this board is seldom compared to other comunities.

so, big respect to all zbrush comunity !!!

keep on rockin,
daniel

very nice image, and I agree on the texture nice going!

Hello Triztan,
Its nice to meet you too :).
The head created by your max script is almost identical to the head that comes premade with XSI, but the form of my message, is not to humiliate…but to say thankyou…I appricate very much your kind words…it has come to me as quite a big shock that my work can have this effect on peoples opinions.

Btw just as a point of interest…when I mention the name Stefan…does that mean anything to you?

Regards

Kircho

Stonecutter…I found the texture interesting as well (i previously had this idea but forgot about it til this thread) and thought to search for some pics of skull/face muscles…I am thinking an alpha would be fantastic for modeling as it would help in both learning muscle placement but seeing how all things are affected.

when I have a good one I’ll post it.
