Public Apology to Andresloy

Andre, I would like to offer my apologies to you for being way to harsh in regards to the 1 2 1 posting the other day. Though I was trying to be constructive in my comments, I later reflected back on what I had said over the past several days and I think my tone was way out of line. You are doing alot of work on the forum and I do enjoy viewing your creative hard work. Sometimes I forget what is was like for me as a newer user posting. I posted about five or six images a day myself. The members of the forum were never as harsh to me as I was to you. A fact that I think I forgot. Please accept my apologies. Your work is coming along very nicely and though I may not comment on every piece, I do in fact view each one. Happy Zbrushing.
Cordially,
Ron

Hi Ron
With this, I believe that you will be forgived
Andre is a very nice guy indeed!
Have happy Zbrushing!

Thanks Ron for your words. The more important thing about you is your permanent and dayly attitude to give support everyone¡¡
Lets work together in the forum¡¡¡
Andreseloy.

There is a reason forum moderation is called “Moderation”.

You would not be alone in feeling frustration Ron, when one artist, enthusiastic and kind as they may be, would act in a way that dominates a forum to the extent that their behaviour produces an extended uneasy feeling in the forums regulars that some etiquette or protocol is being breached I can perfectly understand when frustration boils up.

Often the required limits and brakes on behaviour are unspoken, and there is an aversion especially in such a creative place, to discourage an artist, and especially one with unrestrained enthusiasm and goodwill.

But the delicate ecosystem that grows up around a forum such as this is not immune to all assault.

I believe that authors should note that the “hey look what I crapped out in the last few hours” may quite reasonably be frustrating if it frequently displaces the work of others who may also be seeking reassurance and advice.

No doubt there is a delicate balance, and as a mere casual observer with few vested interests of my own, I would extend a word of caution to anyone who might find themselves overstepping the bounds of good taste.

I doubt I’ll win any medals for speaking my mind, and my moderated tones may also disappear from these pages. It’s one of those strange ironies about this forum. But truly, I’m not complaining. I’m quite content, really.

Moderato cantabile

Well done Ron. I think that Antimorph is on the spot with his interpretation of the situation. No one like’s to be trottled, but enthusiasm must always be tempered with discretion.

Having known Ron for a few years now, one thing I am sure of is that he meant no offense…He has always been one of the most helpful people here, and anything he says is meant to encourage, and not denigrate…
That being said, one thing about ZBrush is that it makes it possible to produce a piece very quickly, and also to get ‘stuck in a rut’ as an artist…The essential thing for the artist is to develope a sense of discrimination, and realize that everything you do is not necessarily worthy of posting…Personally, I post about .1% of what I do, because a lot of it would only be of interest to me, and I try to only post two catagories of pieces…

PLANNED and then executed projects…

or

WIPs designed to help people develope new techniques…

The idea of posting ‘Doodles’, or other tossed-off pieces would not appeal to me. Enthusiasm is wonderful, but restraint is essential. That doesn’t mean that I think people would automatically like the posts I make, merely that I enjoyed the result of my work enough to want to share it. Mostly, I only share with the Lady Simone, my mate of 30+ years, and my most honest critic…
Everyone has to set the line for themselves however, and there are people here who will comment if some boundary is overstepped…

So, carry on Andre, and relax Ron…You’ve always been one of the ‘Good Guys’, and I know, and as he has said, Andre knows that your motives were positive…

That’s why I only post once in a great while!

“Everyone has to set the line for themselves however, and there are people here who will comment if some boundary is overstepped…”

Do you think so, or would they simply get disgusted, leave and then be slow coming back?

If you have a terminal illness and expect sudden death such overexpression can be reasoned, but otherwise?

great attitud Ron !! you are a Gentleman :+1:

I don’t usually frequent this Community Forum, but I do take a look from time to time and post here once in a while. I find this thread very interesting because I have changed my posting habits over the past year. I rarely post on Zbrush now, unless I have realy put a lot into the work I post and I think it is reflective of some progress perhaps I have made. Part of it is that I wouldn’t want people to think I am not making progress (ego I guess). And part of it is that although I love Zbrush, I rarely do any piece of art using Zbrush exclusively now, I find a mix of programs works best for me. So I don’t post these on Zbrush because they are not “pure”.

The aspect of one or two people posting numerous pieces on an ongoing basis does bother me now to some degree. Only because when I do post, I want people to look and comment. And I find that if the thumbnail or the post itself gets pushed out of the forfront too fast, then it gets lost and I don’t get the responses I would like. Also I remember back awhile ago when there was an overabundance of monsters & aliens being posted in variuous stages of development, and I just plain got tired of looking at them all. Which has actually caused me to not frequent the forum much either. I only visit once in a while now, and I know I have probably missed some great work that has zipped by amongst the monsters and aliens. I am not against monsters and aliens at all, in fact I have posted a few myself. But I appreciate these genres most when they are finished works rather than 10 posts of each stage. I find that a bit much!
Now there is my rant done!! Hope I haven’t offended anyone…

@ Northstarr: I am glad you pointed my thoughts out in a way that I would never have acchieved!! Besides that - no one would have had listened.

EDIT: just because I could not find an answer to a question that came up when I first read this initial post:
what’s the use in having a big audience when you are dealing with something “delicate” or private?? Just curious.

Apologize to the ZBForum about :
1.-Number of post
2.-Number of reply

I want to excuse me to all who have feel bad or disturbed by my posting behaviour.

Andreseloy

Zerebrush, I don’t think it is so much about having a big audience, as it is having other artists make constructive and encouraging comments about your work. And there is also an element of wanting to share accomplishments with others. We learn from that. And gain confidence to keep working. Also sometimes get helpful hints etc. to increase our skills.

for me, if a piece of work is “delicate” or too “personal”, I don’t post it at all on Zbrush. I have another forum, much smaller that I post those images on, where there are people I can trust to comment knowing that they know me.

Andreseloy, I hope this doesn’t mean that you are not going to post your good stuff!! Because I really enjoy seeing your finished works. And I don’t see any reason why you should slow down your comments to others. If you feel like making a comment, you just go right ahead and do it. I know I appreciate your comments on my work when I post it. I don’t see this as a problem at all.

@ northstarr: I meant the way the apology went.

Hi Andreseloy,
i think you can post everything you made with Z…don’t worry about the OTHERS…
