Prototypus (mecha design)

Hi there,
I share you my last concept mecha under zbrush 4 R2, render with BPR, I’ve changed levels and I added somes grains
Even if I was sick, i am rather satisfied because it took me 5 days to finish it.

i put some screenshot and layer i’ve used.

Thank you Pixologic for dynamesh tools and brushes even if i prefer sculptris dynamesh.
My old website www.vangchi.com not working any more
so i’ve created www.vangcki.com domain name,
i think my website will be update the end of the month.

cool push on zb tech.

This mecha is awesome .
How do you do the layers is it masks in zb or photoshop for the scratches and dirt?

Very impressive work here, Krysalid - in design, execution and presentation. Definitely reminds me of the works of Mike Nash, but your end result is unique and very nice all by itself.

Would you mind talking a bit about how you come up with the design for the armor and the individual pieces that comprise it? I really love these intricate and detailed mechanical designs, but I always have trouble understanding the process that artists like yourself take in order to come up with each piece and how it fits together to make a finished design. Do you look at any particular references or have any advice you can give me? It would be greatly appreciated.

Outstanding work - looking forward to seeing more from you. Cheers!

  • cdizzle: Hi, in fact, constantly, i always work my style of robot in 2D or 3D.
Yes,Mike Nash, his robot is very awesoOOoome.fine details, his modeling and render are so amaziiiing.

well, for mine, this model take me around 5 days with zbrush. i
the design for me it’s a priority before all.the real difficulty for me it’s the feeling of inspiration.
Basically, each pieces come from extract tools and i’ve used dynamesh tools for help me to push my creativity.
i let you a small quicktime , it show step by step , (it’s screenshot of my zbrushviewport).
Hope it help you to see the process.

You know, the best process its to work with reference, pictures of Motorcycle, engine, cables of car.
like great 2D and 3D artist: Greg Broadmore, Aaron Beck,Bulgarov,Mike Nash, etc…
At soon i will post a new robot, and try to record my work.
    Cheers!

  • Strangehighways: thanks, i’ve used photoshop to create somes scratches and dirt because it just more easy to retake behind.

Wow brilliant! I love mechanical / steel models, wish I could do that :frowning:
Very very nice, inspiration for me to keep trying
(Your mecha girl is also top notch!)

Your NUTS!! Just kidding… wow it is ‘crazy’ your level of detail. It’s real neat to see your process to the final sculpt. Nothing short of amazing.:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

ça faisait un bail que j’avais pas vu de tes travaux !!!
Toujours aussi inspiré, ça fait plaisir !

It’s been a long !
Looks awesome as usual ! Thanks for this !

looks very nice!
Could you do other render in different angles with a simple shader to appreciate the details?

very cool :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

-Sebcesoir:Like this name of thread, it’s a prototype of new workflow i’ve found, i’ve didn’t work all the details for this one.

-gpepper: ça faisait un bail oui, car j’étais pas mal occupé ces derniers temps, j’essaie de me mettre à jour quand j’ai du temps libre, le plus dur c’est de continuer de se faire plaisir

-LordSoth, Dragon, Henriquedw, Rodion vlasov,StormySky: thanks a lot guyz, it’s was a pleasure

this is a render with a standard shader matcap greenclay and comic matcap test for the fun.
