Projection Master always Crash!!!

hi guy,

one day for found the solution, but nothing. In attachment the model.obj.

My two PC are:

( )Laptop Dell M90, full HD, Quadro 2500, 2Gb RAM XS64bit SP1
() 2xQuadcore + 9800 GTX 8 GB RAM XP64 SP1

The model is made with 3ds max with correct UVMapping. If i import to in ZBrush and try to decobrush in displacement mode (not in paint mode) with circular alpha, when i press “G” the second time for go back from Projection master, Zbrush ALWAIS crash.

Can you help my?

thank’s!

i cannot replicate the crash, however by doing a uv>check it turns red indicating that you have overlapping uv’s. try disabling uv’s and see if you still get the crash.

hi, thank’s for your feedback.

The UVW is ok and if i disable the UV in ZBrush, the program crash again :frowning:

This is the Crash Screenshot

Very strange. I found that if i delete some polygon, ZBrush don’t crash. See the pics abow. It’s possible

i delete the “bad” edge loop from original model in 3ds max and ZBrush crash after 3-4 Projection Master’s stroke. Mmm…

EDIT: nope, crash after first stroke!

sorry but i tried your model a bunch of different times and did not get a crash.
what are your memory settings at?
how high is the model?
does this happen with the zbrush polysphere at the same amount of polygons?

Hi,
nope. Memory are FB-Bimm 8 GB RAM, Dual quadCore 2.83 Ghz. The subdivs model is 170.000 poly, so no hight model… Now i try to retopology my model in 3ds max.

I rebuilt the model from scratch. Damn… same problem. I buill in Max 1/4 of my model and mirror with Simmetry modificer along X, Y znd Z. After i unwrap with Roadkill and exporet in OBj.
It’s probabilly Harware problem? 64bit problem?

Recreate same problem with Sphere.

I create a sphere. I delete half part, and after half part again.
I apply 3 Symmetry modifier (one for X, for Y and for Z axis). Collaps in 4editable poly and apply turbosmooth modifier. Unwrap with Roadkill. Import in ZBrush, subdivide and after some Projection master stroke… CRASH!

I don´t know if this could help, but try to disable perspective before you change to the projection master.

Regards,

Carsten

I try to close 3ds max when i work with ZBrush and the stability it’s a little better, but mmm… crash again. My conclusion is that there are some videocard problem with nvidia or bad geometry support import from external software.

Carsten: yes, i found that the stability it’s a little better with perspective off. I install all 64bit XP64 driver for my 9800 GTX+, but no problem solved.

can you replicate the crash with a ZBRUSH only mesh, not from max?

i also asked was your memory settings were not your memory type.

I,

no, only from some 3ds max geometry… i create a ZBruh plane, initialize in 4x4, subdivide to 150.000 poly and play with Projection Master. No crash…
Memory setting in ZBrush is by default.

Another Laptop. Core2Duo, Ati, Zbrush 3.1 New installation. 4GB Ram xp 32bit.

Same problem. After some brush stoke with Projection Master, ZBrush crash again. Conclusion. It’s geometry problem, not HW problem.

yes i would agree, but a max geometry problem right?

But it’s very strange. It’s a simply model. I rebuilt it from scratch. For me the simmetry modifier put some strange info in the mesh…

Same problen again with another mesh…

i search in the forum and i found another user that has my identical problem.

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=50886&highlight=decobrush+crash

Conclusion: it’s ZBrush bug. I don’t wont to change to mubox, becouse i like decobrush, but, hey, after 3 strokes and pick-up the PM, ZBrush crash! :frowning:

Any news?
