Project Undo History Doesn't Seem to Save/Load

Hello, I can’t seem to get my undo history from projects to save/load. Can you help? I have all the options that are recommended to get it to work selected.

Also I’ve been having the problem of when I mouse over a menu item at the top of the screen it never seems to select the correct thing. I have to start at the left side of the menu and then slowly mouse over each menu item in order to properly select the ones on the right side. This doesn’t matter if I have a custom UI or default.

Thanks for the tip, I didn’t know there was a patch. The menu seems to work now, but the Undo History doesn’t seem to be Saving/Loading in projects. This would be a really important feature for me personally.

It’s working for me, I think it only saves undo states on a tool, not a document.

But either way this feature bloats file size like CRAZY. SO you may not end up using it as much as you think, as it can result in enormous files (over 4GB).

yeah it’s not working for me

I have Undo History Options like this

Active:
Show Undo Selector
Show Time Stamp
Enable Saving

Max Undo 10000
Warning Undo 25

Inactive:
Skip Loading

I save Project, or SubTool and neither is saving the Undo History. Help!

So you are running 4r4 p2 right?

Make sure you are doing the following:


  • You are saving .ZPR files through “File > Save As > Save Project As”
  • You have “Undo History” turned on, under “File”
  • You are opening the same .ZPR file that you saved
  • You have “Enable Saving” turned on under “Preferences> undo history”

History only saves with .ZPR files, nothing else, not .ZTL’s or anything else.

If you do all of the above it should work

Does yours work now? Mine seems to be broken. It’s been working just fine. Created and saved a new project just now, had a tool with several steps of history. Reopened the same file(.zpr) and there is no history now…? I wonder if some update broke it…Argh…

Yeah it works perfectly for me now. Make sure your Preferences -> Undo History are correct and that you do as --E-- says and enable Undo History saving in the File menu for saving Projects. Because it only works on projects afaik.

Yeah, the settings appear fine. I just used the feature to record a forward history movie earlier…All of the settings EXCEPT the one hiding under file, must be it’s NOT? linked to what’s in the preferences…
