Project all not working

Im having difficulty projecting details from my high res mesh to my retoped mesh while trying to use project all. I’m using zbrush 4.2, i created a new mesh with the edit topology feature. Then i made it an adaptive skin. But it doesnt project to my new mesh.
I think it might have something to do with the adaptive skin i created because i tested projecting on another mesh and it worked fine.
Are there certain settings i need to use after i make my new mesh in zbrush before i make it an adative skin
or do i need certain settings for the adapative skin?

Any tips would be great
Thanks

If your gonna just show me the zbrush manual then whats the point having this troubleshooting forum?
I checked that before and the the zclassroom videos.

ZBrush has been updated to 4R5. You said you were using 4.2.

My mistake im actually using r4, but even if i update to r5 i think it will still encounter the same problem.

This is annoying :frowning: i’ve tried so many things but still no projecting.

You can project hi res details directly onto the new zsphere topology:

  1. After you have laid out the topology, press Tool > Projection > Projection.
  2. Set Tool > Adaptive Skin > Density high enough to capture all the detail of your reference mesh.
  3. Press A on your keyboard to preview the transfer.
  4. Press Tool > Adaptive Skin > Make Adaptive Skin when you are ready to convert your topology to a polymesh object for sculpting and exporting.
  • If your model explodes when you press A, try setting Tool > Projection > Projection Strength to -1.
  • If there are flat spots in your projection increase Tool > Projection > ProjectRange.

Thanks marcus, i tried that earlier but no luck.
I loaded earlier versions of my edited topology mesh and got some results.
I dont know why it doesnt project on my completed character but i’ll just start from where the projections work on the earlier saved version and keep checking the projections before i save.

Thanks

As an alternative you could create an Adaptive Skin, then append the original model as the source subtool for using SubTool>Project All. I understand going up the subdivision levels projecting each in turn is a good method.
