Hi all, I am still definitely in the novice catagory, but I am trying to get my chops up. I have been watching tuts on pluralsight for some time now and I am finally diving into the books I’ve bought. I am working on the remesh and reproject details sections of Erik Keller’s Intro to zBrush 4. I have followed the exact instructions, used the same settings, and even tried with the provided project file, rather than the base mesh I created. It’s simple geo, going for a headlight look. It’s a polysphere stretched for the casing, cliprect with bradius enabled to add a lip, and then the same operation for what is meant to be the lens of the light. Every time I run the remesh and then reproject, I get a disaster of a result. I opened the v2 file, which Mr Keller kindly provided, but that one is perfect. I have no idea what to do from here…can someone please explain what’s going wrong? Thanks in advance!
First off, which version of ZBrush are you using and which version was the book written for?
I have that book at home, got it as a gift I think about five years ago. As far as I remember it was the first version of ZBrush 4.0 Eric used for his articles in the book.
Can you post the settings you used for your projection?
make sure the remeshed object has the same amount of polygons or more than the mesh with the details. subdivide if needed, to get a higher poly count.
make sure the object’s surface is as close to the detailed mesh as possible. fiddle with the scan distance and blur.
lastly project several times…project…smooth out…project again…and so on.
by my final projection, i usually have blur down to zero.
two or three projections and you should be done.
