Problems reinstalling and activation on two computers - Answered

I have ZBrush installed on two computers (I’ll call them A and B), and both were recently repaired and the drives were wiped when the OS (Win7) was reinstalled.

I tried installing ZBrush (the R2 download) again on computer B with the serial number and it tells me that I already have a computer with that name (yes, it’s the same computer) and doesn’t sent me an activation number.

I also tried using the activation code I originally received for R2 on computer B and it doesn’t accept it, nor can I get another activation code because I’ve already got two computers (A and B) activated on my account.

The only option I seem to have is to deactivate one, but since they are the same computers, is there any way to do this with deactivating both and starting over?

Unfortunately, my original ZBrush4 download was wiped with the drive, but I do have the limited edition CD version - should I install that first and then the R2? How do I assign computers A and B when activating?

Thank you.

The system should tell you one of two things:

  1. ZBrush has already been activated on this machine. In that case there is a button to request a copy of the activation key. Doing so creates a new activation code for you without the computer counting twice against your serial number.

  2. The more likely possibility in your situation is that you’re being told that ZBrush has been activated too many times. In that case there is a button to View Activation History. This lets you check off any copies of ZBrush that are no longer functional. Submitting that form then creates a Support ticket with the info we need to remove the lost activations from your serial number. Once you’ve received a reply letting you know that we’ve done this (usually about one hour during normal business hours) you can then do Web Activation again and it will work successfully.

You do not need to install an older version to get ZBrush 4R2 running. Also, activation codes are single-use. They can never be reused so there is no point in saving them. Only your serial number remains the same.
