problems on reprojecting details

hi, i always used the “project all” button to reproject details and colors from one subtool to another without problems. but in this model i noticed the follwoing problem: every “star” (five edged vertice) in the model is pinched and i cannot remove it at all using smooth. I’m using clay and flatten brushes as a workaround, but i dont like the look of it.

I just imported the retopology model and reprojected the deails. The original model was smooth in this areas…

any ideas?
thanks

oh yes, the problem only happenend in the head… a lot of other five edged vertices in the body are ok…

When you use the “project all” are you doing it for each sub d level, or are you just going to the highest sub d level and doing it once?

I have found better results personally if I do the project all starting with my source mesh at sub d level one and my target mesh at sub d level one and hitting project all on each sub d level all the way up to the highest one. Moving up each sub d level on the source and target mesh each time i hit project all.

As far as i know Flatten works best, but i agree its not ideal. Smoothing only makes it worse. You could try to use the Move brush with a draw size of 1 and move those points out manually.

humm, interesting, i never projected with my source on lower levels as well… i always project the target mesh level by level, but always keept the source on its higher level…
I’ll try this one for sure.

but this will be a hell of a work! it must have some easier way to do it

I always create a morph target before the projection, then If I end up with those ‘dots’ I use the morph brush to fix it, then sculpt it back up if needed.
