Problem with resolution on startup

Every time I launch an existing project, I get a low-resolution screen. I must bump the res to a high-res control +N and redraw the tool. It is no big deal but annoying. Setting it to remember the setting doesn’t work. I think I’ve installed a custom IU from the internet and it is corrupt. Is there any star up file I can delete and start a new one.

Thanks

Hello @marcos9999 ,

The ZBrush startup doc only applies to starting a new session of ZBrush without any project files loaded. If you load a project file then the canvas resolution behavior is saved in the file itself and will overwrite whatever the canvas information was prior to loading it.

The key setting here is “WSize” in the Document menu. This setting is enabled by default in a new project file. If this function is active then the project canvas will resize itself it fit your display resolution minus space occupied by the UI if it was saved larger than this. Please note this is after your display res has been modified by any OS display scaling settings. For instance if you have set your OS to scale the display by 200% this effectively reduces your display res by half for the purpose of displaying the ZBrush UI.

This is is for performance reasons. The canvas dimensions have a performance impact for ZBrush. This feature resizes the canvas to fit the current display scenario with no canvas offscreen in order to keep performance high.

In order to make the file load with specific canvas dimensions every time, “WSize” must be disabled before saving the file. Once this setting is disabled and the file is saved, the file will remember this setting and only load file with whatever dimensions are saved in the Document menu.

If what I have explained above doesn’t help you figure out why your file is opening to a certain size, please contact ZBrush support.

Thank you!
