I recently imported a DAZ3D figure into ZBrush and polypainted it. I then used Multi-Map Export to export diffuse color texture maps based on the polypaint. All of the maps worked fine, except the head map, which is a mess. (Please see screen shot.) Any guesses as to why the head map did not work?
This is because the UVs overlap. ZBrush and MME can’t cope with that directly. (There’s a New From UVCheck option in the Tool>Texture Map sub-palette which will show you if your UVs are OK. If they overlap parts of the map will show red.)
-
If the subtool has polygroups that correspond to the different UV tiles then you can skip this step. Otherwise you will need to press Tool>Polygroups>UV Groups.
-
Turn off any texture that is displayed on the subtool.
-
Turn on Polyframes by pressing Shift+F.
-
Shift+Ctrl+click on a polygroup. This will show just that group. (If only part of a group gets hidden make sure the SelectRect brush is selected.)
-
You can now create a map from polypaint by pressing Tool>Texture Map>New from Polypaint. Make sure you create it from the highest sub-division level - press ‘D’ if necessary to move up.
-
Press Tool>Texture Map>Clone Txtr so that a copy of the map is put in the Texture palette. You can export it from there.
-
Shift+Ctrl+click the background to show all the polygroups again.
-
Repeat (4) and (5) for the next polygroup.
Thanks, Marcus. I will give this a try.
