Problem Auto Group when using Slice Curve

Newbie here…

Seems like I follow the tutorial but every time I use slice curves, resmesh, I get all these weird artifacts on the edges of my cuts and when I move the pieces they seem to be still attached. The only way I can combat this problem is if I go into the Polygroup menu, use autogroups and it works there. However sometimes the edges are very messy, no matter how high I crank up the level in Dynamesh.

turn on polypaint on the object you want to cut before remesh.

Tried that but… same. When I select the move tool, and want to just move the sliced off portion it still attached and more or less extrudes.

Okay tried that option but how to combat the jaggies of the cuts? Also seems to do shells not really a cut away. Still interesting tip (again newbie here…) =P

Thanks that clarified a lot… that simple image helped tremendously… however still one more issue remains. Why when I slice up the object I get some very ragged edges once I do the dynamesh split? I slice up a sphere to test the limits of this and some edges are really torn, ragged, rough.

Thanks again for the reponse… one more hurdle and onto my project off of 3DS Max onto Zbrush.
