That first render looks like Gman. Great start. Did you post your Blizz work here?

Yep, I sure did.

Glad you like this… I’m putting together more images to post for teh body and maybe the arms on this we’ll see how much time I have today.

LOL  Gman :DDD

Oh yeah! I remember seeing that one. Very very cool.

Heres some of the stuff I’ve done to the upper body.

Before you wonder about the scales and the muscularity, as part of the story of this character he’s genetically modified himself into a half dragon. But because the mutation was done through a genetic modification and is not natural, his human form cannot fully contain or hide the transformation so it shows up in places.

It would be really great if the scales on the arms overlapped one another down the forearm and then cover the top of the hand and tops of the fingers. Similar to the ones on the neck and between the shoulders. I think this would sell the arms a lot better. The scales on the forearms are just too simple next to the concept you’ve made over the rest of the body. Very very great progression thus far. I’m hooked!

Really cool!!I wonder how many polys before the detail was applied?
Bye cal

fine work:+1:
but dont you find it depresing to do the things you do, now that you know what 2.5 can do?

Heh heh, Well I made do with what I have. The work I did in Projection master would have saved me time in 2.5 and perhaps I wouldn’t have had a need to cut my model up as I did to get the detail I wanted out of it but 2.1 did the job in the end.

It was around 30k tri’s

I actually did test this and it looked cool but it really didn’t work for the character. He is trying to keep his half dragon mutation hidden and has for that reason forced much of the change out of his face and hands, the areas visible when he is in clothing or armor. His hair hides the neck and back. But I just had to keep it off his hands. Hopefully I can make this repressed dragon form show thro8ugh a bit more clearly with texturing.

This was sub-D’d 3 levels to tweak proportion but this is without the displacement detail.

keep it up :+1:

can you tell us a little where are you going with this?

you asked for it so heres what I can tell you.

I’ll try and dig up the armor desings but basically this character will be an exercise in totality, i’ll rig him and do shapes and such, then I will layer on armor and the decorative cloth that he wears and perhaps even his cloak. though thats all long down the road.

And finally the background story.

At birth he appeared almost as normal as any other child… Born into to a wealthy family his parents were both from wealthy land owners, before settling down and raising a family in a small town. There was something captivating about Prexis; his presence commanded an almost hypnotic attention. Only a year after birth he became sick, not even the greatest clerics knew what was wrong with the child as sickness brought him closer to death. Over 7 months the child would scream for days on end in pain, coughing up blood and growing weaker with each passing day. He and his family were forced out to the countryside, clerics and other medicine men would visit every so often to study, diagnose or attempt to cure the child. Then one day the screaming stopped, at first they thought he was dead. His skin had turned pale as a ghost and his once brown eyes were now a black upon which no light would reflect, many say that his eyes swallow all light that goes near.

The clerics again returned to see the child and aside from his appearance nothing was wrong with him. He was as healthy as could be. The family moved to a large city to start a new life. They hoped that Prexis would blend in better in a large city with lots of people. He was enrolled in a fine school at a very young age but he proved to be a fast learner and despite his new look he commanded the same attention he had as a baby. He was respected by most and he showed respect in return. This isn’t to say that everyone liked him, there were other children who would disrespect him or his family and as he entered his teens he found himself in more than the occasional scuffle on the schoolyard grounds.

His family was forced to move to a smaller town for his safety when he was 13. His parents began to argue more and more often, the moving, the schools, the clerics; it had put a tremendous strain emotionally and economically on the family. Then the screaming returned but Prexis wasn’t sick anymore. He would wake up screaming from nightmares, blurry images of death, fire, and a red dragon battling a gold dragon, he always awoke before he could see which won. The nightmare became clearer after several weeks and he no longer feared it but hoped to learn from it. Often he would enter the nightmare with wings, flying over and observing the battle but never interfering. It was at this time that his family realized he was able to cast arcane magic at will. He would awaken from sleep with his room rearranged and on several occasions, on fire. He soon learned to control this power but by then it was again too late, rumors had spread and his family began to fall apart. They didn’t know how to deal with him. The schools wouldn’t accept him, rumors spread of the child being possessed. The family could no longer afford him. They argued constantly and Prexis could only watch.

By the time he was 16 they had moved two more times from town to town looking for acceptance that even young Prexis knew would never be found. His parents just couldn’t understand they said they felt cursed. Then one night he awoke to find himself in a burning house, his house. He ran frantically from room to room looking for his parents before kicking a locked door down and escaping with his own life. He left the town that night.

He later returned hidden under a dark cloak to ask about what had happened, the locals told him that the whole family died in the house the bodies burned to nothing and he mentioned that a sorcerer child was most likely the cause. He walked off without a word, just as his family had left him. He went on to try and develop his abilities and search for his parents. His hatred for humanity grew as he began to truly understand his own past. When he found his parents he killed them both and never looked back. He learned to weave magic with an artistic flair like no others. He was eventually recruited into the second legion and trained by Draconias.

Once enlisted into the armies of the Second legion he worked his way up the chain of command. Although not the most powerful mage his uncanny ability to use what he had was matched by none. Often referring to it as an art, his ability to lead and see strategies that developed through patience and time were what really moved him up the ranks of the second legion.

After the fall of the second legion and the loss of the Lord of Rage along with the disappearance or death of the demonic leadership of the second legion Prexis sought to form the Third Legion under human rule.

The well established Third Legion forced underground by the Order of Light looked to ally themselves with the Black Skull clan, a dark sect of the alien race known as the solarians. Through this alliance Prexis was able to develop the genetic augmentation technology that would make him a half dragon and later create the one person powerful enough to stop him.

Alright, I stitched it all together and did some more texturing.

I also did a test rotation (the test is using a slightly older shader than the image above)

I’m rigging now… uhg…

I like how its looking, but the head seems a bit big to be proportionate to the body imho

Just the right touch! That back texture is wicked and really enhances it! Got plans for a costume? Are going to expand on the head or leave as is w/hair? I’m going to check out the video in a few. Can’t wait to see it and more updates!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’ve been debating about the head size. SOme days I like it over sized some days I don’t. In my origional concept it was oversized in a supervillan sorta sense. But I’m gonna see how he fits into the armor before I change it. but I have so much rigging to do still that that won’t be anytime soon.

Posed him

posedbody01.jpg

Another test render. Hair wasn’t simmed so it’s sticks out.

http://student.vfs.com/~3d43jesse/PosedKeyRenderCom2.mov

Yeah, my comment was goign to be about the head being too big. I think it should be scaled down just a tad.

it was oversized in a supervillan sorta sense.
I think The Glassman would agree with you.
