Possible to change orientation of IMM brush with Curve?

Hi

Hope I can explain this properly… Is it possible to change the orientation of a mesh with an Insert Mesh Brush whilst using a Curve? I have a stitch brush I’ve downloaded, but all the meshes you can add are vertical. Granted, you can drag and add a mesh with brush and change the orientation before letting go of the mouse button, but is it possible to change the rotating of the mesh if using the Curve function? I find the Curve easier and I can add a load in one go, but I’d like for them to be horizontal.

Is something like this possible? Thanks.

Hi @DustyShinigami ,

The default orientation of the mesh is determined at brush creation. Simply re-create the brush with the mesh in the orientation you prefer.

In the case of an already made brush, you can extract the mesh from that brush using the following method.

From there simply create the IMM brush as described in the documentation:

Okay, thanks for letting me know. I’ll give that a go next time.

Hi again. I’m afraid I’m having some issues with this. I have a mesh piece I want in certain direction when I use the Stroke, and the IMM brush doesn’t place them the right way. I made sure to save the mesh in the right direction when it was saved via Create InsertMesh. It’ll only flow in the right direction if I drag/make a stroke downwards. Whereas I want it to face that way horizontally, left to right.

I tried following Michael Pavlovich’s way here - 069 ZBrush Reversing IMM Curve Brush Direction - YouTube - but can’t get that to work either. He seems to magically get the first zipper to appear in the workspace without dragging it onto a mesh first. Then he’s able to Unify it, create a new zipper in his desired direction over the original, and Appends it to his IMM brush. However, whenever I try that, it saves the mesh underneath it. Even when it’s masked. :-\
