Pores bump

I’m looking to texture my models in max, but I would like a way to make pore for human skin in zbrush ala Bump map. I’ve imported an alpha into zbrush and have been making the pores one mouse click at a time… Is there a faster way of doing this? I just want pores to cover the whole surface, and can go in later and touch up bigger pores, smaller pores, wrinkles, etc. I know there are skin shader materials on this forum to download, but I just want the gradation, to import into 3ds max, not color. and I want a bump map not a material shader, unless I could use it in max.

Thanks alot.

If your alpha is seamless, you can convert it to a texture and use the Deco Brush with the Tile modifier active. That way, you can paint an entire swath of pores with each brush stroke. Use the Bump Viewer material to see the bump as you paint it.

aurick,

i made a photo of pores tileable in photoshop, then imported as an alpha and set my deco brush to tileable. im in proj master and am painting but I have a hard edge along the edge of each paintstroke (refer to pic). Am I going about this wrong? I am looking to paint realistic pores onto a 4 mill poly mesh.

Thanks,

Use the pore texture as a texture. For your alpha, create one that is white through the middle, fading to black at two edges. This will give you the strongest application of your pores in the middle of your brush stroke, and will allow the edges of the strokes to be blended together.

thanks alot.
