Polypainting with texture stamps

In polypainting mode, you can use a texture to stamp images on the mesh. Problem is, when you turn that texture on, it fills the entire mesh and I have to work blind while placing the stamps.

When I turn textures off, I can see the stamps in the poly painting of the mesh.

What I want to know is if there is a way to make the texture not fill the mesh while placing the stamps?

I read the polymainting tutorial on the wiki site, and it says that the texture map is automatically dominant when textures are on. You can’t see the polypaint unless you turn textures off.

Is there a transparency setting for this or some trick I don’t know about?

Here is a sample movie of what I’m talking about.

Also, is there a smudge tool I can use in 3D space. The only way I’ve found to do that is with projection master.

The smooth tool doesn’t seem to do anything in 3Dspace for polypainting.

go to your tool>texture tab and press “disable uvs”…then your texture won’t cover the entire mesh. later, if you needs your uvs back, import an obj with the uvs while your tool is active and you will have your uvs back.

Perfect :+1:

Thanks

You’ll have to Disable the Uvs before using a texture in polypaint mode. Before doing that, thake caro of savving a copy; by exporting the Subdiv level 0 of your mesh.

The smudge and smooth tools dosen’t work in RGB mode in 3d space.
You’ll have to wait ZB 3.5

Hopefully, a few other things will be added.

the ability to have layers for polypainting with layer styles.
If possible, get rid of the polycount control over the resolution.
Add color and level adjustment tools.

The ability to reshape your stamps, like you can in projection master with the 3D plane tool.
