Polypaint

Long time lurker, first time posting. Made up an object, but it refuses to polypaint. I’m pretty new with Zbrush, so this might just be my naivety playing around. I’ve got the colorize button all nice and clicked, zadd and zsub are off, rgb is on, all the good stuff. I go up to the color toolbar and click “Fill” it does absolutely squat, and it refuses to accept being painted on. I tried with a different tool and it worked just fine. What am I doing wrong?

It might be masked. You want fill object.>>http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Polypainting

or it might be a case of the stubborn polygons…they were wronged in another life…a place where geometry goes bad and starts using trig and calc…a sad time indeed.

but no…what doug said is probably right

Looks like I had a UV map still set by accident. Why is that even a problem?

It’s letting me fill the object now, that’s an improvement from before, still won’t let me paint though.

And you are using the Standard brush? If there’s a texture assigned, you have to remove it to paint.

Yup, standard brush. No texture. Is there a different brush I should have it set to? I didn’t think it mattered.

Are you absolutely sure you don’t have a texture turned on in ‘Tool > Texture Map’ ?

ROFL !!

I can picture it now… Polygons in a dark back alley huddled around a burning trash can. mumbling to themselves as they shoot trig and calc formulas through a syringe, much like a junky with heroine.

hmm might make for a good render…

keep talking man.

Gorram, I had a texture on, but it was just straight up white, so I assumed there was none at all. Thank you everybody! I really hope this program starts making sense to me soon.:+1:
