Polypaint Smoothing issue

When I polypaint and smooth at its highest subdiv level I get very little smooth, Following Danny Williams Polypainting Demo Video I drop a subdiv level or two and smoooth. This works well. However when I go back up through the Subdiv levels I get what appears to be atifacts or traces of the lower levels show up . Is this a known bug or is their a solution. At Present smoothing at the highest level does not give me the desired smooth. I have attached screen grabs to show better my point.

1.Highest SubDiv level (6) with smoothed polypaint

2 Lower SubDiv level (4) smoothed

3 Back up to Highest SubDiv Level and notable errors with smoothed polypaint

Are the artifacts visible when you render, or on the exported texture?

Hi dillster, Yep the artifacts are still visible when rendered. There is no texture, this is only going to be a high poly sculpt.

Thanks Doug, I will take a look at your link. It’s only at 210k points as I hid the body to paint on the head

And I can’t tell if you’re using the latest ZBrush version, that got cropped off. There aren’t any incriminating numbers up there :wink:
