Hello all! Is there was a way to erase poly paint off a spot on your mesh? kind of like how you would with a paint program. I don’t mean an Undo; just a way to wipe the color and keep the Material that is underneath. I have always just put additional color on top of the paint I don’t want. Isn’t there a better way to go about this though?
Color and material can be applied at the same time or whenever is convenient for you. You can paint over with both or either at about any point in time. HTH
Just paint over with pure white. Control how much you remove with Rgb Intensity slider.
ok, so the Answer is no. I will keep doing it the way I have been then. Is it a strange question? Or dose it seem odd that there is no tool for paint erasing? One more question, Will using the smooth brush Blend/soften colors without effecting the Geometry? I have used it on my meshes with Add off but it has no effect. Makes sense, but how do I soften, Blend without marring my mesh?
Thank you for your replies.
OK then! Did you even try what I suggested? Painting with pure white erases polypaint.
Zber2,
Sorry if my last response sounded silly… But about my smooth brush question, do you have an answer for me?
oh, and yes, that is how I normally do it. was just curious if there was another way.
it doesn’t have an actual “eraser” because when you think about it, white is always the default state of your model.
so painting over a spot with white is actually erasing, it’s returning that spot to it’s default state.
To use smooth just for the polypaint, hold shift (to select the smooth brush) and disable add . Just like any other brush…
If you are using layers, holding alt turns your brush into an eraser. In that situation painting with white does not “erase” the paint. If you have an errant spot and paint it with white, you’ll just have a white spot covering up the layer underneath. But erasing with alt reveals the layer underneath.
