polypaint hue

Hello all, is there a way to adjust the hue of your polypaint after it has been applied to the model ?
As in keep all your colour patterns and brightness, but swap it with a different base colour. Its possible to change hue in lightbox before applying projection, but after ? Or should I extract UVs and edit them in a photo editing program ?

In the Brush> Alpha and Texture menu you can supposedly the set the mode for your current brush to “colorize”, although I can’t tell if this actually changes anything or not. Perhaps you’ll have better luck.

There are a number of post-render adjustments available in the bpr render menu, where you can do things like shift the hue, contrast, etc.

Materials typically have a slot somewhere where you can override their color with a colorize or a hue control.

If you are willing to take it into Projection Master and use the 2.5d brushes, there is a Hue Shifter and Colorize brush there. You can only work on one side of your model at a time. However if you use PM, then you also have Photoshop available to help you alter things interactively with ZApp link. (Note: The 2.5 d colorize brushes appear bugged in my version, but there’s always ZApp Link.)

You could transfer the polypaint to a UV texture and then process it in another program like Photoshop. Take it back into Zbrush and convert the UV texture to polypaint. It might be a bit convoluted and a bit tricky but that should work.

I don’t remember for sure but it seems like Zbrush might also be able to mask based on color. If your model is more solid colors that would work. However if your model has variations of similar colors, like in the real world, then that’s probably not a great way of doing it as you’ll probably get artifacts of color variation around your masking.
