Polypaint from texture problem

Hey guys,

I’m trying to create a polypaint from a texture so I can alter the texture. I know I’m supposed to import the texture via “Texture>Import” and then flip it in V. Now it should apply to the model correct? It’s not applying to the model. I put a matcap white material on the model and it’s not applying the texture at all. It’s showing in the texture box and I have “Colorize” turned on under Polypaint, and also when I hit “polypaint from texture” under the polypaint menu it doesn’t create polypaint from that texture. It just stays white. I also have MRGB enabled when I do this which it says you have to do.

So not sure what’s happening but I can’t apply any textures to the model. UVs are laid out.

Thanks for any feedback,

CJ

On the right side, look at the texture map palette. Turn off any texture that shows up there before you choose polypaint from texture.44.jpg

The texture should turn off automatically once the Polypaint From Texture button is pressed. Provided either RGB or MRGB are enabled prior to pressing the button, the texture should turn into polypaint immediately. You should check your subtools to make sure you have the correct one selected and that the brush icon there is turned on (it turns colorize on and off for that subtool as well). You should make sure you don’t have any masking or hidden poly’s as well. Oh and you need to load the texture via the tool menu, not the texture menu which it sounds like you’re using (see above screenshot by jonbo64).

Edit: Looks like you can load images for polypaint using the texture menu. Must have been fixed because I’m pretty sure it didn’t work that way before lol.

If you have layers you might need to bake them.
