Polypaint from Polygroups

Hi
I am fairly new to ZBrush and and am trying to finish a complete model using a ZBrush - Substance Painter workflow. I need a material ID map for that purpose.

I separated my sculpt into a few polygroups so that I can polypaint from them and create the material ID map. I used the Polypaint from Polygroups option. Now I found out that I needed to change one of the polygroups, so I fixed that.

However, the previous polypaint is not getting removed. I tried to redo the polypaint from polygroups but in vain. I can’t even paint over the existing polypaint. I tried to change the material to a flat shader and then color fill the model, then again change the material to matcap grey, but that also didn’t work.

The texture map menu is also no helping. Toggling the Texture ON switch is not helping at all.

Any idea what might have happened? Thanks in advance.

Hello @Agni_Sen

Pictures would be helpful.

A few things to check:

  1. If you have an active texture in the Tool> Texture Map window, this will override your polypaint. Deactivate it to see any changes in the polypaint.

  2. When attempting to fill or paint a mesh with polypaint, the appropriate mode must be selected (MRGB= material+ color, RGB=color, M=material). If you attempt to make a change to one of these properties without the appropriate channel selected, no change will take place.

  3. Make sure your tool is an active 3d mesh in edit mode, and has not been dropped to the canvas as pixols.

  4. Make sure there are no duplicate or overlapping meshes interfering with your ability to see it. Solo mode will make any non-active subtools invisible.
