Polygroups with Goz

Hey

I am using Maya, and I need to maintain grouping in ZB and Maya as well. Unfortunately it seems that GoZ transfer doesn’t preserve the grouping, or I miss something.

I don’t want to use OBJ export, my workflow is GoZ heavy, I don’t want to hassle with manual import/export operations, so any help is appreciated

Maya doesn’t have polygroups as such but if you use the FBX plugin in ZBrush you can export polygroups as Maya selection sets. You’ll need to use the Outliner to view them. If you create selection sets in Maya and export as FBX then they can be imported into ZBrush as polygroups but for best results make sure the sets don’t overlap. Make sure you set the correct options for export/impot in the FBX plugin sub-palette.
