I’m having some issues getting individual Polygroups from meshes exported out of Maya. For instance, I’m following a hair course, and the hair created with XGen, which was then converted to splines and then tube geometry, appears like this for the guy in the video:
However, I can’t seem to get the same result. I’ve tried assigning a new material to the geometry, and on export ticked the Groups and Materials options. This is when I’ve exported out as an OBJ, by the way.
In ZBrush, I’ve made sure to go to Preferences > Import/Export > Import > and selected both Import Polygroups and Import Mat As Groups, but every time they come in they always get a single group.
Is it no longer possible for them to generate individual Polygroups like in the screenshot? Technically, I could go to Polygroups > Auto Groups With UV, but considering how much geometry there is, it takes forever and/or stops responding. :-\
