I built this as a part of Paul Gabory’s Sculpt Corner class “Collect Them All: Creating a Collectible In ZBrush” https://www.sculptcorner.com/

3D PRINT PREP
As mentioned above all the printing prep was done in ZBrush. I achieved this by creating keys that protruded from the piece to be attached. I then duplicated the piece, inflated minimally and used Live Booleans in ZBrush to cut out the connection point.
The base had to be divided into multiple pieces due to the size limits of my printer.
WATER FEATURE
A small usb powered water pump is housed under the base.
A hose is snaked through the model. (The cutout was achieved using “Live Booleans” in ZBrush)
The wire of the water pump feeds through a hole at the base of the palm tree, rendering it invisible from the front and sides of the model.
These components all work together to achieve the intended illusion of Squirtle executing his signature move, with minimal distractions from exposed wiring or cut lines.
