plugins folder location

Hello,
This question has probably come up before, but I can’t seem to find any references to it using a general search.
I have just reinstalled zBrush and want to install some plugins. Almost all of the plugin instructions require you to install in the zStartup/zPlugs folder, yet I’ve noticed that the program (automatically) installed the zPlugs folder in the zData directory. Should I just move the plugins folder?
Or create an extra folder?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Alph

You need to create a new file called \Zplugs in your \ZStartup folder and unzip to that “Zplugs” folder. Or you can unzip in another place and move the files you need to your \Zplugs folder.
\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush2\ZStartup\Zplugs

You need to create the ZStartup/ZPlugs folder yourself. All .ZSC zscripts placed in that folder are loaded upon startup. Subfolders to ZPlugs are ignored.

The ZData/Zplugs folder and it contents should be left alone as it is reserved for the help system and various Pixologic plugins.

Hope that is clear.

Thanks for the info.
Apparently, my mistake was to “drag and drop” files instead of using WinZip’s extract feature.
Everything is working properly now.

Just as an FYI: never, EVER modify the ZData folder or its contents in any way. Doing so can destabilize ZBrush.

Sorry for the digging up.
If you don’t want the user to mess up the Zbrush program data, you shouldn’t let the user to put plugins in the installation folder (program files folder) on Windows platform. You should put something like plugins to appdata folder. The current plugin folder location makes it very easy for users to accidentally destroy Zbrush program integrity.
