Please, I need help with a model for being produced in the industry.

Hello.

A friend of mine has asked me to model a glas for industrial production and I thought that I could do that with 3DSMAX 2014.

The question is that I’ve always modellend for rendering, not for industrial production.

The reference is a whisky glass which I’ve modelled in zBrush and 3DSMAX like if I would go to render it and I’m not sure if this is the procedure.

The glass has two parts: a sueprior part of metal and the inferior part of plastic and I don’t know how to export this in order than some industrial machine can take my model and start producing it.

For instance: how do I pass to the industrial machinery the creation of the two parts or materials?. I created two elements within the same mesh with its multimaterial assigning each ID material to each ID element of the mesh but when I did it and checked again with the STL converter appeared me 600 erros. Another way could be created two objects and close them (slicing the original mesh into two meshes-tha superior and lower part-).

Are these the programs I can use?.

Is this the way to tell the industrial machinery that my glass has two differenciated parts (one of glass and another of metal).?

Thank you in advance.
