Please help! I have been trying to load a peanut I made in zbrush into lightwave 8 for some additional tweaking (not very glamorous I know). I use a MAC with OS X and think I have exported it in the correct format. My plugins appear to be correctly loaded in Lightwave (according to edit plugins anyway), but when I load the object (as all other files - not lightwave objects) my program crashes. I have this feeling that this is a blindingly obvious piece of stupidity on my part, but the time has come for me to put my pride in my pocket! What am I doing wrong?
How big is the file??? LW chokes on big obj files. Is this a obj using displacement or a “frozen” zbrush obj??
try tesstelateing the model when exporting from Zbrush.
Thanks so much for getting back to me. The file is small just 750K. I solved the problem by opening the object in 7.5, which I have neglected to toss out, and saved it from there as a lightwave object. Then I was able to open it in LW8. I should probably get in touch with New Tek so they can post an update - then no one else will think they’ve gone temporarily insane!
Cheers!
the loader in lightwave 8 is broken on the
mac and it may be on the pc. You can use the
plugin from 7.5 in ligtwave 8 just replace it.
It has been posted on the lightwave board but
no one seems to care. So tellig them wont get
it fixed. Not bitter just been using lightwave
long enough to now their way of fixing things.
It will be rolled in to a revision six months
from now.the plugin you need to replace is the
convert.p.

Thanks. It would be annoying to have to keep switching between diffferent versions of the same program.
