Planer Cut Problem with Line Setting

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been following the Pixologic tutorial introducing the Planer Brushes. The problem I’m encountering is illustrated in the three images I have uploaded. In the tutorials, Eric Keller is able to use the Backtrack/Line feature to cut a clean, flat surface, as illustrated in Tutorial.jpg.

I’m using the same settings. However, when I attempt to use the Backtrack/Line feature, I get the results illustrated in PlanarCut_1.jpg and PlanarCut_2.jpg. Moreover, if I try to remove the central elevated sections by using the Planar brush, it has no effect. It won’t level that surface.

Does anyone know how to get a clean, flat surface?

Also, does anyone know what happened to the Trim Ends feature?

That’s what happens when you try to take off too much all at once relevent to the Draw Size. In other words, your Draw Size is too narrow for the width of the cut. If you are going to take deeper cuts then increase your Draw Size.

As to the Trim Ends feature, maybe they decided it really wasn’t that great an option seeing as how you could just use masks to square off the ends of the stroke. It’s something you would have to ask Pixologic as to why the removed it.

Many thanks!
