Pixologic Release: SubTool Master (PC & Mac)

Introducing SubTool Master, a ZBrush plugin that gives you greater control over your SubTools.

SubTool Master allows you to mirror, duplicate, merge, export all your subtools at once, fill all your subtools with color and/or materials and many other things!

This plugin is now available for ZBrush 3.1 PC and ZBrush 3.12 Mac.

You can get it from the Download Center.

Installation Instructions:

 1. Download SubTool Master to hard drive
 2. Unzip the zip file to your ZBrush3\ZStartup\ZPlugs folder.
 3. Make sure that your unzipping program preserves the folder structure of the plugin otherwise it will not work. (In Winzip this is the ‘use folder names’ option. In WinRar check ‘use relative paths’ in the Advanced options.)
The zip contains:

 1. SubToolMaster.zsc - the plugin file
 2. SubToolMaster_readme.txt - a text file version of these instructions
 3. SubToolMasterData - the plugin data folder which contains:
4. ZFileUtils.dll - the dll file
 5. UILeft.txt - rename this file if you want the UI on the righthand side of the canvas
 6. File|SubTM-button.psd - the plugin button icon
 7. File|ButnPic.psd - the popup button icon + 18 jpg image files
Launch (or restart) ZBrush. You should now have a SubTool Master subpalette in the ZPlugin palette, containing the SubTool Master button and the Save ZTool button.

I’ve been having some issues getting the mirror function to work on my mac. It creates the duplicate tool fine, but when it goes to assign the tool to a new item in my subtools list I get an error dialog staying it can’t find the new tool. The error occurs with both merge and append.

If I then manually attempt to add the tool to my subtools list, my entire sculpt won’t render, until I remove the new item from the list. When I remove it, everything comes back fine.

I can also switch to the new tool and work with it like normal. I haven’t tried saving the tool and re-importing it yet, and that doesn’t really seem like the way this is supposed to work anyway.

I’d say it fails to work on about 1/3 of my models.

coalmarchtom,

Make sure you are using the version of SubTool Master for ZBrush 3.2 MacOSX from the Download Center. It sounds as though you have an earlier version installed. Make sure you delete the whole of the previous version (ZSC and Data folder) before installing the new one.

HTH,

Dude, thank you so much. I’m probably the biggest tool in the world. I had somehow installed the wrong version of STM.

when we can get the script for Zb3.5? Thanks

Make sure you delete the whole of the previous version (ZSC and Data folder) before installing the new one.

I’m still using 3.1 (and 3.5 R3) but there is no version of the plug-in for 3.1 anymore!!! don’t you have an archive section?

I just installed the subtool master and everything is working except when I bring up the menu, the Merge button does not appear at all -.- any suggestions?

For SubTool Master on the Mac use the ‘Merge Visible’ button in the Tool palette.

This is an installation issue. Check that you don’t have an extra folder wrapped around the SubToolMasterData folder (the unzipping program can sometimes create this). The ZPlugs should just have the SubToolMaster.zsc and the SubToolMasterData folder. See the first post in this thread for further details.
