Pixologic and VFS Team up?

Why do so many VFS reels show up in the top row?
Don’t get me wrong, the reels are good quality, and a few are really great. But I also see alot of good art in the main forum that doesn’t get top row, yet I see VFS reel after VFS reel top row. Some get it before people even have a chance to rate the thread.

Does VFS pay ZBC to post reels? Just curious. If so, how much do you charge?

Thanks guys!

Hahahahaha!

Hahahahaha!

It does seem that way. Although what I really think that happens is that VFS encourages there top students to post their work on multiple forums when finished to promote the school. Usually the students are not posting members, or just registered so they have the extra boost of having a very strong first post work up. Not sure if that factors in either. I haven’t seen posts from them since, so I guess they either got jobs, or just don’t want to develop their portfolio anymore. The only VFS student that I see post a lot and sketch a lot goes by the name of Intervain on cgtalk.

I’m not sure how good of an art school they are, since I don’t go there. Its really tempting to go to their school, but since I’m almost completed a fine arts school in philly, I think it would be waste of money now. Not wild about the animations coming out of there either. Wish I knew of the school when I was applying for colleges, that and Tom Savini’s college in Pittsburg (more likely to go there).

VFS is very good at promoting students. I’ve been involved with them over the years. Had some wonderful talent pass through the places I’ve been.

I have to say if I was a student, I’d look at that school, they really try to get your butt into a career. Compared to many schools that just take your money and throw you out the door. I’m not putting down other schools programs, some are very good. However VFS pulls off the impression they really care. Maybe they do.

‘I am in no way associated with the school and/or students, or any other school/students at present.’ Just my observations over the years.

No, VFS is not affiliated with Pixologic.

Top row items are chosen based on a number of factors, including that the work being featured is unique. Animations that feature ZBrush usage are something that you don’t see every day. This gives them an edge over some other artwork that might be being considered at the same time.

You have to admit that the presentation of these VFS reels is first class.

If it happens that VFS students are the only ones typically posting animations or demo reels, that’s not our fault…

Patience, I will post some crapimation up sometime, first class, or storage class. My semester ends in May and ideally I’m going to send my film out to film festivals for exposure to possible tar and feathering. I’m actually looking forward to the feathering. After that I will post my animation here and cgtalk.

“Feathering”! I was not told about the Feathering. I’d better learn this animation stuff right away!
