anyone know how to get rid of these ugly dots surrounding this sketch?
Im using Photoshop Elements 7
[drwn.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘190787’,‘drwn.jpg’,1,0))

the psd file is divided into background, shadows and figure.

Thanks alot

Not sure if you have the setting in Elements but in Photoshop if you merge layers to one you could try Dust & Scratches (under noise) or just manually go round the sketch and erase them.

Your best option would probably be the Polygonal Lasso Tool, or for even more control the Pen tool to create a path. I’m also not sure which of these options is available in Elements. Sorry.

Hope that helps

you drew it on paper and you said to yourself “I am going to cut out the background and replace it with a gradient in elements”?

  1. Cut it out slower, Not using the magic wand tool.
  2. Better to integrate the color of the background into the piece somehow so their isn’t the “aww they cut out the background in elements” look.

Color the image and the background all in the same session.

The problem you have is called haloing, The best way I deal with this particular type of haloing it simply to select the color that predominantly surrounds the image with the magic wand tool, so select a portion of the hat where there is a large area of white. Then go to the select tab/similar and choose fill color or which ever setting is appropriate. Now all of the similar (in your case white) color in your painting will be selected, simply use the eraser tool to delete the haloed areas that are highlighted without worrying too much about deleting your main painted picture as you can only affect the highlighted portion of the picture. I assume the gradient is on a different layer so it will not be affected.

Another possible idea is to create a layer mask and have your image screened through, (good technique to learn as well).
