Phone activation help

Can any UK ZBrush customers advise me please on how easy it is to activate by phone in the UK.

Sadly I have not yet been able to try the latest version of ZB owing to the fact that my old computer is XP 2 GB ram. I have now been able to get a new desktop with Windows 7 (did not want Windows 8) and 16 GB Ram, but at present am testing it out before moving to a new ISP. My existing ISP is Virgin, where I get the magnificent top broadband download speed of 550 kb on my USB modem at £26 a month for Internet connection only. The modem will not work on the new machine. It is simply just that I do not want to be sorting a new computer and a new ISP at the same time.

Any help will be gratefully received, thanks in advance.

Dave

Hi there,

With your serial number you can download 4R6 from here: https://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/instructions/full-installer.php You can do that from any computer that has internet access.

Before proceeding, ensure that your system clock shows the correct date. If you’re not connected to the internet you’re not going to be getting the automatic setting and an invalid date will prevent successful activation.

As for activation, you can call during normal business hours which for us are 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Phone activation will tell you the number to call. Alternatively, you can start a phone activation and write down the request code that it gives, then exit ZBrush. Then using your mobile phone or any computer that has internet submit a support ticket at https://support.pixologic.com. In your ticket include the same info that will be asked for by phone:

  1. Your serial number
  2. Your request code
  3. What you would like to call the computer so that you’d know it was THIS machine if you saw a list of your activations sometime in the future.

We’ll reply with your activation code.

Request codes time out after 24 hours, so plan accordingly. You must enter an activation code within 24 hours of getting the request code.

You can exit ZBrush after getting the request code. When you get your activation code, DO NOT start a new activation. Instead, launch ZBrush and go directly to the “Enter Activation Code” option.

Hi Aurick,

Thanks for your help, I did decide to phone activate as our internet connection is less than reliable, I am hoping a new ISP might improve this. I didn’t want any glitches as you had mentioned time was important with the request code. I had to get my wife to deal with the call as my hearing is now getting a bit defective and I sometimes have problems, that’s the price of getting old I suppose.

I had downloaded 4R.6 when it became available but only realised that it wouldn’t work on my old XP machine when I tried to install it. I used that download on the new computer and have just found out that there have been two patches since.

Never mind at least I can use 4R.6 now and when I get the new computer connected I can patch it then.

Thanks again for your help, and to the gentleman at your office for his help to my wife who wasnt 100% certain about dealing with ZBrush screens.

All the best,

Dave
