Hey ZBC! This would be my first post here. This is a Crocodile I finished up on recently. I really hope you digg it. C&C always welcome.
I used Maya for the base model and Headus to layout my UV’s and then onto ZBrush. I created custom alpha brushes for all my scales and worked them in over the body for a base and then refined what I needed for my final detail. I worked with the layers in order to be able to go between different types of scales when working them into the body to be able to get exactly the look I was trying to achieve. Once I have the amount of detail that is necessary I gave my model a base layer of paint and then I was ready for my export. I used Photoshop to refine my paint job for my 2048 map and then rendered in Mental Ray using a DP map.
