Perspective is still not working ...? (answered)

i had a ztool file that just wouldn’t open up in zbrush 4 that was originally saved in zbrush 3.1 every time i loaded the model it would crash z4 instantly, as it turns out most of the models that were saved in 3.1 crashed z4… so i did some digging and it opened up fine in zbrush 3.1 so i did the only thing humanly possible i exported each subtool as its own obj and then opened zbrush 4 back up and used subtoolmaster to to use the multi apend feature and re-imported each obj so i could get back my scene again but now perspective wont work it only is able to be viewed in orthographics…is there a reason why this has happened does it have something to do with the new coding of ztools in zbrush4… ?

is there any way to get my model back with all its appended subtools so that i can have perspective active again, and be able to use some of the new features in zbrush 4… ?

A couple of things to check:

  1. Is the model very large? Check this by looking at the Tool>Preview window. Ideally the whole model should show in the window. If the moedl is very much larger than the window then you may need to scale it down.

  2. Try showing individual subtools only. If perspective works then there may be a problem subtool. Sometimes a stray vertex will throw out perspective.

hey marcus i checked all of the above with out any progress…

so i uploaded the file maybe you or aurick will have better success than i did i appreciate anything that you can do to maybe fix it so that it works in zbrush 4.0 like it should…

Yeah, it is a problem subtool, though simply turning it off is not enough. It’s the one called ZSphere#1 and it’s way bigger than the rest. You can solve it like this:

  1. Select the subtool.
  2. Press Tool>Deformation>Unify. This will bring the subtool down in size. You should immediately see the perspective improves.
  3. Switch on Transp and Ghost. You will then be able to see the part (inside your model) and use Move/Scale/Rotate modes to reposition.

HTH,

thanks so much marcus i just deleted that one subtool you suggested immediate improvement to the perspective…i thank you for helping me figure it out …
