Permanently merge subtools for distribution

Hi Folks,

I’ve recently gotten into creating Minis for 3D printing and I want to merge all subtools permanently so that, once distributed, the recipients can’t open zBrush and split the STL file again.

Any thoughts on how?

(The standard merging of SubTools doesn’t work, nor can I find anything on the SubTool Master)

Many thanks!
James

Hi @James_O_Donnell,

Merging subtools typically only regroups subtools–it doesn’t fuse the geometry unless the subtools have points that align and you use the “Weld” option when merging down.

To fuse the actual geometry together, you could use Live Boolean or Dynamesh to weld all the subtools together and remove the overlapped geometry so you have one contiguous piece of geometry. You could then either Decimate for export, or create new low poly topology based on the fused mesh and project the high res detail back onto it using one of the various methods to create a multi-res mesh, depending on your needs.

Thank you @Spyndel! Very helpful answer and links, exactly what I needed.

Much appreciated!
