Pen Pressure Issue: 'Shoelace Effect' on ZBrush and Photoshop with Windows 11

Hi!

I have encountered a problem with my tablet when using ZBrush and Photoshop. Since it’s affecting both softwares, my best guess is that the issue is not caused by the software itself.

The problem I am experiencing is this ‘Shoelace effect,’ where the pen pressure creates a strange tapering effect. I have attached a screenshot that illustrates what the problem looks like.

I’m using Windows 11 and a Wacom Intuos Small tablet. I’m posting in the hope that maybe someone else has had this problem and can provide a solution.

Best regards!

Hi @Thunde12 ,

Since this appears to be affecting both programs I’d guess that your pen pressure sensitivity settings are too high, which means the pen is too sensitive to pressure changes and may make abrupt transitions with even minimal pressure changes.

Try setting the “Tip Feel” in your Tablet configuration utility to a "firmer"setting. This means you will need to press harder to cause size transitions, which should produce more gradual transitions.

Thank you! I will look into that!
