PC for comfortable work in Zbrush

Hello everyone!
I have bought a new PC for working with 3ds Max and started to use Zbrush (i like it, because it’s very good for adding details in different items for interiors). With first program I have no crashes, it works fine with big scenes, with detailed geomtery (3ds Max 2015 64-bit), but with Zbrush (4R7 x64) i got from time to time unexpected exits. Also canvas rotates slowly with 8-10 Milions polygons. I use different ways to work with it (divide geometry into parts and scuplt it separately in Zbrush), but it’s not what i want.

That’s why i have two questions: 1) Is there a way to speed up the work of Zbrush with current PC configuration?; 2) If no, so what i should add/change in it to speed up working with it?

PC: Intel Core i5-6400 / NVidia Geforce GTX 970 4Gb / 8 GB DDR4 / 4+4 GB HDD

I will be glad for any views.

P.S. I understand that this question is rather trivial, but… need advices from professional users.

Sincerely,
Alina

8 GB of RAM is quite low for running ZBrush on a 64 bit system. The operating system will take quite a lot of that and if you are running other programs at the same time there won’t be a lot left for ZBrush. So increasing the amount of RAM will likely improve performance, especially if you want to work with dense meshes. 16 GB is recommended but basically the more you have the better.

As for crashes, if you experience regular crashes when carrying out specific actions you should inform Pixologic Support.

Thank you, Marcus, for your answer.
I bought in internet PC shop 16 Gb memory module (kingston). Hope it will enough for models.

This page has minimum and recommended requirements: http://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/

It also has tips for building a solid ZBrush system.

Your CPU will have the greatest effect on smoothness of sculpting. Your RAM will have the greatest effect on how complex your models can get.
