Paper with curled corners

Hello guys. How can I create a curled corner effect on a simple plane? 1

Perhaps using Dynamics. See Michael Pavlovich Cloth Simulation on Masked

@aimby1 ,

To be honest, I have a different philosophy about this sort of thing in ZBrush than some other artists. I think you always achieve better affects by sculpting the shape you want a surface to conform to first as a target object, then creating the conforming surface second, either by drawing topology or mesh extract.

However, to do this directly to a 2d plane, the following are possible options.

  1. Control your topology and only add the fewest points necessary to complete a curve once subdivided. This may make it possible to simply manually move the points into place, possibly with the aid of a brush like Move Infinite. The fewer points there are, the less potential for surface distortion once subdivided. Switching on Dynamic Subdivision with an Edge Thickness value may make it easier to work with the mesh.

  2. The new soft deformation ability of the Gizmo manipulator, used in conjunction with blurred-edge masking. Position the manipulator appropriately, then enable a Focal Shift value of greater than -100 to only partially affect the mesh when rotating.

  3. The Gizmo Deformer Bend Curve.

  4. The Spiral brush.

Good luck!
