Painting in hide mode

Hi, i have a problem with my model, i have my symmetry turned on, so i can paint in both sides of my model, the problem comes when I’m sculpting a hand for example, and i want to hide everything except it, so i can work faster, but as soon as i jump back to my model, the sculpting i made in one hand has no effect on the other hand because it was hidden, so my question is, is there a way to sculpt a hand for example, with everything hidden, and the sculpting i create also reflects with symmetry in the other hand, even if it’s hidden?

Symmetry only works on visible polygons. If you hide one side, ZBrush will ignore it completely.

There are two things you CAN do:

  • For sculpted details, mask what you just did before you unhide the mesh. Then after unhiding the mesh use Tool>Deformation>Smart ReSym to copy those details to the other side.
  • For painted details, unhide the mesh and clone the model. Append the clone to the original. Select the cloned copy. Now hide the parts that you haven’t painted, delete the lower subdivision levels, then delete the hidden polys. Now you can use SubTool Master’s Mirror feature with “Merge into one subtool” selected. Select the original model again (don’t worry about the fact that the paint will look blocky where the SubTools overlap) and turn on Draw>Rgb before pressing Tool>SubTool>Project All. Now you can delete your mirror copy. What you’ll be left with is a model with the polypaint from one side copied to the other.
In fact, you can use this second method for copying sculpted details as well. Just leave Draw>Zadd turned on if you want to copy sculpting. Or use Draw>Zadd and Rgb if you want to copy both sculpting and painting.

Thx m8, it worked very well, thx allot.
