OT: Verizon Telephone

I need some help here.

Today I learned that a Neighbor here in Bloomfield,NJ is without his Verizon telephone for the second day. Well… not a big deal… we all know that the phone companies hire one technician per million lines and that it takes ages to get it fixed. We all know that we have to wait the entire day because their service is so sucky that they can’t give you a correct tracking. So why am I whining here? One might say… lower your expectations and live a happy life! The reason is simple… It’s my BLIND senior neighbor Tony.

Tony is now unable to call help if he feels sick or for a pizza for the second day. I called on his behalf this morning and all looked ducky as the tech service should show up in the afternoon.

They did NOT! For the second darn day! So… I called again at 6:30pm and they told me that they are running late and don’t feel like coming any more and that the next date where they could look for his line is the 3rd of SEPTEMBER. I could barely hide my happyness about that… A request for an supervisor call back was accepted with the information that it will take 2 hours to call me back. I bet that they will not call back in any case.

So… if you know someone at Verizon or have a minute to write them an email that you think this handicaped seniors line should be fixed asap… then please do not hesitate to refere to Ticket number NJC5010S8Q.

He’s a nice guy and deserves to be treated with a bit more respect. He was not born blind. And it is very hard on him. Imagine yourself without the ability to look at all of our cool artwork. Sitting in the dark. Alone. Without the ability to contact anyone and the only thing making your day is the local phone company’s reps making fun of you.

This is soooo wrong on so many levels… I can’t tell you how much this bugs me.

Cheers
Lemo

that’s really lame. sadly i don’t know anyone at verizon or i’d be sure to shout. just wanted to say “you da man” though…

I wish I COULD help, Lemo. You define ‘The Good Neighbor’! 50.

Update: All good!

I emailed the local News Papers, send an email to ‘7-on your side’, ‘Fox5 NY NewsDesk’, ‘Shame on you’ Channel 2’, a post on Craigs List, and I called the local Major’s office a day later. And of course… Verizon… further for no avail.
The Major’s office did the job with their contacts. In the end, Verizon has to have a license for the serivce in the town and thus the town has great contacts. The next day the technician showed up in the afternoon and actually had to patch a bad wire in the main trunk to that part of the neighborhood.

So blind Tony has a dial tone and can call for help and pizza again. A great asset when you can’t do to much to begin with.

Cheers and thanks for your emails and thoughts!
Lemo

PS:I always think: Oh my, it could be me…

Kick ass!!!
Don’t forget my proximity (relative), if you think I can do something…
What kind of pizza?

Glad to hear it worked out. 50.
