Organizing in ZBrush

Hello Masters of 3D,

coming from Photoshop, I wonder how to Organize working in ZBrush.
At first in noticed the problem with subtools (You have too much of them after a while)
Since I cannot group them like in Photoshop, I think about using Polygroups instead.

I know there are some Plugins to group subtools.
But what kind of organizing was intended by Pixologic?

Is there something like photoshops smart objects too?
To merge subtools together and use them in a bigger scene with multiple items or characters, but to jump back into the object and do some corrections? (for example a full tool?)

What about symmetry? Once I worked on a person… Posed it and decided to correct some parts.
But since I moved the head, I couldn’t use correct symmetry on it anymore.
Can I save symmetry on single subtools instead of the full tool?
Like to create a Sword, pose it to the characters hand. Without loosing its symmetry for sclupting further?
