first post… and im also a new convert to zbrush also!! its so great,iv been playing with for around 9 days now and this is what i learned…not much but what the hey!! i would love any feedback,it is a normal map project im doing this week, the top left mesh is the base mesh(roughly 5000 polys) and th main is my normal map…so far, cheers for looking
very good modeling… the face is so expressive… I’m surprised nobody replied to this thread…
Yea the facial expression is great, i really like it, and the head shape is looking good, keep us updated!
Pilou
nice head, are you going to texture the head?
Yong
thank you pinkarman! i dont really know the quantity of replies your supposed to get in here as a newbie so i dont really mind , i just learned something about projection master and alpha brushes…its very exiting, im very busy with other stuff right now but as soon as i get a free moment im goin to maybe add a small amount of fine creasing. once again thank you for breaking the ice!!!
thank you for the reply solidsnake!!! my main application is 3d max 7 and it will be textured soon,i will probably use textporter… its part of an animated summer project with my friend, where two scared soldiers are the last standing after a long war and have a brutal fight to death, cheers
hey pilou!!! i think im badly addicted,it is very easy to be addicted to zbrush. its such an artistic application, peoples ideas and talent shine through so easily in here. there are endless possibilities with this program and i cant wait to do more!!! cheers

about tour thanks… you’re welcome! I’m glad to break the ice for such a good work… even better if the work is the first post!! very good start!! I don’t know how much replies should a newbie have, but I don’t think there is a rule… I think it depends on the thread title and the pic that appears in the bottom row… in fact, I came and see your post because I saw the pic and it looked fine… and so it was!! I also don’t think that knowledges are so necessary to have more views… you could do a fantastic work even only with modeling… well, if then you learn colour, alpha, projection master, lights, rendering… it all could be thousand times better… but it’s not a sure thing that, if one knows all the functions of zBrush, then he surely makes a good work!
hope you a lot of luck, more than mine… I had almost 300 views (and about a dozen replies) for a thread and almost 400 views (and more or less 30 replies) for another one… but you deserve much more!!! by the way, I see you are a great modeler… if you want, see my works and give me your opinions and SUGGESTIONS … I really want and need to improve my technique… to see my works, click on “User Gallery” above this message… I stopped putting my WIP links from my messages because these days I really can’t work on them… but if someone sees my works, it’s always a pleasure… or a honour…
no problem!! i will take time to look properly when i get some free time ,i have seen your spider image and its really great…how long are you using zbrush???
I started zBrush some months ago, maybe January or February… but my serious start came very later … less than a month ago… however, I am still learning (I am studying it at school), and I’ve got a long way to do…
About the spider… perhaps you have seen the thread called “Darth Shelob”… but it’s not mine!! it is enlisted in my gallery just because I put an image (a photo took on the web) on a reply of mine… the author of Darth Shelob is the same one that made the wasp in the top-row… with the skills that I have now I will never reach it… well I hope one day I will be able… like Drummer, a guy that attends the same school of mine who got the top row just some minutes ago… the author of the miner… or working man… lot of luck to him too!
Sorry about my post of this afternoon, I said a huge crap and I got just now… the replies to my threads are 10 and 8, not a dozen and about 30 as I said… I don’t know in which corner of my mind I catched those numbers… but the numbers of the views should be right… sorry again
wow you study this in school!!! your so lucky, tell me all your secrets now!!!..only kidding:lol: , yes your friend is very talented also, give me a few more weeks and hopefully i will post something slightly better than what i just posted;) cheers , gus

Try the Projection Master… You will like it. Material, and color, and deformation. Check out the essential turorial guide which can be found for free in the quicklink section. There are excellent samples in there. But I guess you found that one already…

The Practical guide is a wealth of information. I got stuck on page 74 as I keep on trying stuff out which comes into my minde… MUST FOCUS !!!
Then look at this little treasure (100 extra materials):

and:

If you need to know how to model hands, ears, noses, whatever, then SEARCH in the SEARCH WINDOW for the topic and you will be knee deep in resources. If you spend a little time, you can double the functionality with scripts and other resources.
