Orc, Old man, Mutant,Devil and Alien concepts and 3D sculpts

Hi guys
well, some months ago i took some time to back to paper and pencil
and tried back to my pencil sketchs.However ,I still working on that concepts ,that will be 5 characters
The Orc, The olman , the Devil , the Mutant , and the Alien.
i intend sculpt (when i find the designer that im looking for ) all 5 characters with the amazing new features of the Zbrush 3.0
Im a beta test , then i will need wait the Pixologic let me show the sculpts.(cause the NDA )
then, i will first share the concepts with you ,ok?
Soon i will be posting the 3D models,I know that this post should be place in the traditional art theard ,but
soon i will move the concepts to 3d and i want put all stuff in the same post,to you see the all process.
I holp that the post can help that ones that know that traditional and digital art walk togheter.

Great start, your getting the concepts down before diving in. cool sketches… the devil one is my fave, i like the flow and style to it, cant wait for all of them to be visualized in 3d!

The sketches are really good! Can’t wait to see your 3d sketches of this characters. I would like to ask you a few questions if you don’t mind!
How version 3.0 helped you on the designing and sculpting process of this characters? Any cool new features that you like the best?

That last old man study looks a lot like James Cromwell.

The others are pretty decent, but not wild about the devil. Looks like that one character you did.

Alexleia-Thanks for sharing! Always nice to see the concepts, be even better to see them with the sculpts. Is your Devil in the Zbrush3 demo too? I noticed I saw something with horns at the begining… but then again horns are pretty common with creatures. Thanks for the info on the sizes of your concept images too by the way!

javierloredo-welll, teh news features give me inspiration to crerate ANY thing that i want ,i guess that now Zbrush have all tools to do any creature, any character.What i like more was the transpose!!thank you!!

Just amazing drawing skills (I love the rendering of the head of the old man).

Your knowledge of anatomy (specially the head) is awesome.

How long does it take to make one of those sketches? (the old man’s head for instance…)

Ooo another concept, will be checking back in for more updates.

Alexleia- I didn’t think that was yours in the ZB3 demo since normally once you have a finished idea/concept image you keep most of its primary elements. The one in the demo which is very very good by the way doesn’t much look like your concept. As a artist I know things can change once you start sculpting if you “see” things that look more interesting though your fairly consistent. Though since it did have horns :laughing: I had to ask.

X-titan- I ask that question and others on Zbrush3 thread sticky. He said

AngelJ -thank you! i use do to my draws pencil and paper.
the pencil that i really like is the CRETACOLOR NERO number 1 black
and paper i use the WINSON and NEWTON SMOOTH SURFACE

the size of my draws are A3 ,A4,
A4- 19 X 24 cm ( the same size of the Alien concepts )

Much better devil! Haven’t seen anythign quite like it. You might want to add some long tentacles to the goatee, so its less even.

Alexleia- Thanks again for the sharing. Nice weighted lines with details in the appropiate areas to draw your attention. Combined with the rich value applying softness where needed especially in regard to the fall off on the contour lines to support the image. Still leaving a tad of the pencil line quality gives it a sweet art quality. I think even as much power that 3d can give to a image detail more often than not… i think its better to go by “less is more” type of attitude. Least thats what I like to try to achieve and my preference. Can’t wait until you bring on da SCULPTS!! :+1:
