You touch for sensitivity is inspiring.

thats extremely lovely and welldone, kokoro! bravissimo!
makes me sad, thou, as local zoo’s orang mama and 6 yrs. old daughter died within a day just a few weeks ago mama gave birth to new (healthy :)) babydaughter a few hours before dying, so it has to be auntie and humans who have to make her feel as happy as the one on your painting

really nice and lovely it’s name poetry…
Kokoro can you share how did you made this fine and elegant hair? i mint the brush setting?
Thanks in advance
Andreseloy
wow, thank you all … overwhelming …
artboy21 - yes indeed your chimps were part of the inspiration for my image, the other part came from a talk with a friend about babies …
your question, difference of photoshop and zbrush : to put my answer in correct light, i should say i only have very antique photoshop, photoshop 3, the first one which had true layers … but i do have 1 gb of ram available for photoshop alone and this is necessary … and i paint with only small graphire tablet of wacom, so no fancy pen, but pressure sensitive …
to me, photoshop is more convinient for painting than zbrush, since
- it has true layers, which i use in compostion phase of image, i put each single piece on its own layer, so i can move around until nice … in this way i have upto 10 layers … when satisfied i merge down to one layer, add a new layer in which i paint. so basically i paint only in 2 layers, and i only need second layer, since my photoshop does not have multiple undo as zbrush has…
- photoshop does work much better with my wacon pen than zbrush. it reacts much more sensitive to the different pressures i give. in zbrush i achieve essentially only 3 values … i fiddled long time with my tablet settings to make zbrush more sensitive, but it did not help
- and most important to me : in photoshop i can make a setting how i want my brush react to pressure : i can say, i want pressure determine opacity of color applied, but keep brush size fixed. thats impossible in zbrush. if you use pressure sensitivity in zbrush (which is by default), low pressure always makes low opacity AND small brushsize no matter how big your draw setting and this is annoying if you want make straight lines …
BUT i think zbrush is nevertheless a very good painting tool, it just feels different when painting, and i think the choice is more a matter of personal taste … if i not had accidentilly photoshop i would be happily painting in zbrush…
oh juandel, that is very sad … but i am glad there is an orang-aunt who can take care, which is not always granted in zoos …
andreseloy, your question with hair :
one secret is : i paint really BIG, this image is in original size 2720x1840, so 3 times bigger than what i have posted.
the next is : always paint hair as last step. first think, what is special about the hair you are going to paint. here, baby hair, yes it has strong orange color, but it is soft and this softness comes from translucency and soft highlights … now how achieve that : i have chosen brush with hard edge (this is very similar to zbrushs alpha number 6) and size 13 pixel. this seems big size brush, but consider document size, and you see its small now lay down in very faint brush strokes first thin layer of orange, to indicate form of hairdo, and make strokes in direction hair flows. then change color, make it lighther, make more strokes over the first, always only add very faint color … keep going … and when form comes out, make brush size even smaller and add in very light tones a few high lights to indicate single hairs … do not think of painting single hairs, (only add a few when almost done) always think of hairmasses … and try keep it transparent, do not cover all area completely with hair … the baby hair took me 2 hours this way … here is a hair detail for you … you see i am a messy painter
Thanks very much Kokoro¡¡
and …congratulations again¡
