Open keyboard shortcut chart [Answered]

(Chart is posted in a reply below)

I’m creating a hotkey chart for ZBrush showing what keys and key combinations are used vs free so I can quickly find a key that I can reassign so I can use it’s hotkey or simply an unbound hotkey I can use. It seems that this might be useful for finding an obscure key combo to link to a Wacom tablet button.

I’ll post the chart here once its finished so everyone can use it.

My question is this…

Are there hotkeys assigned by ZBrush that either can’t be changed by the user or have no corresponding button in the interface to let you reassign it to a new key?

I’ve noticed some hotkeys I can’t find a button for in the interface such as the color picker (hotkey - C) or hide/show all panels (hotkey - TAB). I’m new to ZBrush so I might be looking in the wrong places. But if there are keys that can’t be changed or don’t have a button letting you give it a new hotkey, I’d like to make note of it in the chart.

You can’t reassign combinations that are just modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt & Shift), such as for masking. And some actions such as the color picker that you mention, and holding the ~ (tilde) key to scroll the document as a tileable image don’t have specific buttons associated with them (or if they do, changing the hotkey doesn’t work).

The TAB key is actually assigned to Preferences>Interface>Float Menu. You can change it, and use the TAB for something else if you want.

There’s a list of shortcuts here which you may find useful:

Thanks Marcus! I had already pulled the two versions of the shortcut list from the site. But I decided rather than go through and try each combination to see which can be changed, I’d leave it open-ended. If, by chance, the file is something that gets used enough, then maybe the forum community can re-post updated versions.

But here is the Excel spreadsheet with the keyboard shortcuts laid out along with a partial screenshot. It’s pretty easy to see what keys / combos are open to assign to what you need. I hope its something users will find helpful.
