I was just playing around this evening and thought I’d take a break from my other models to experiment with this one.
I’m not as proficiant at Z as most of you so this took about 3 to 4 hours for me to do.
Hope you enjoy.

nice. i like his eye lids
Thanks.
I’m still playing around with it. It started out as just a time killer, but I’ve been having so much fun with it that I think I’ll just continue to add stuff and model to see where it goes.
AWESOME!!! Did you start with a sphere? I’m thinking this could be taken into a Top Row character.
Thanks.
Yes I started with a ZSphere and added a few to it for the neck and ears, then went from there. The hat was modeled from Lightwave then imported in cause I tried to model a hat within Zbrush but couldn’t get the results I wanted.
Nice doodle man. I really like the clean cartoony look and feel of this one.
Just a small update. I added a bandana, sig, and now I’m starting on the body. I’m also going to have him hold a huge winchester rifle, but I’m not sure if I want to do that in Z or Lightwave.
I still have a tough time modeling non-organic models in Z.
hahaha I love it! Lots of style.
Great style when you do the body, you could use the mesh extract to create clothing and accessories quite fast, can’t wait to see this finished.
Aside from mesh extraction, you can also create new topology to act as clothing.
Great character! (great hat too)
Thanks guys.
One final, little update for this evening. Just added a vest using the typology tool which is really cool and tweaked it into place. It was tricky creating the collar for the upper shirt. I had to do a lot of edge creation to get it right.
I can’t help but laugh as I’m modeling this thing. Lots of fun though.
Nighty night.
Just use the flatbrush a lot to get flat planes that you would get on clothes. I think he’s going to need wrinkled clothes, with heavy wear in the joints. He doesn’t look like he would be wearing new clothes. But its very good progress nontheless. As for the 3 to 4 hours for the head, I’m slower than that generally. Speed comes with experience I assume.
totally liking where you are going with him so far…keep it up!! I can smell them ratty arsed chaps already
Yes I’m still here and having fun.
Just one more update to throw at you. I’ve added some batwing chaps ( good idea aminuts ), old winchester rifle ( like John Wayne’s ), and conchos with a buckle to hold em up. I still have hands and boots to add and maybe I’ll have him holding some rope in the other.
Keep in mind that I’m still just working on the modeling part. When that’s done I’ll start with modeling the wrinkles, folds, and the rest of the texturing, yeee doggity!
( also changed the thread from Evening doodle to Old Cowboy )
cool! love the chaps and look forward to more!
LoL I love this guy! The bow legged stance, the pot belly, everything. Keep it up. I look forward to this guy. BTW how did you change the thread title. I cant edit some of my earlier posts in my Doodles thread. Theres no edit button anymore on the earlier ones.
Phew!
Finally got all of my pieces together. The toughest part was figuring out how to duplicate and mirrow my hand that had a subD history. I had to jump through a lot of nasty hoops to get it, but I finally did.
Now that all the parts are together I can begin to further model, detail, and texture it.
I’m thinking about having him ride a horse…
And oh, Bryan, I think you only have so many days to edit your post, then that’s it.
Thanks all.

This is 100% cool! I love everything about it. Keep up the good work.
haha i love it. a horse would be cool but he’s gotta be as old and droopy…think he’d be more likely to be trying to lead him but being led instead…maybe a cuss’d ol mule.
haha just looked again and finally realized who he reminds me of…Festus from gunsmoke…i think that was his name anyways.
